Coach BeaR

 Coach Ronald “Bear” Bay brings over a decade of coaching and instruction experience to the Houston Heat program, paired with an extensive background as a professional player. For more than 10 years, Coach Bear has provided high-level pitching and hitting instruction while also serving as a trusted coach within the Houston Heat organization. 

 A product of North Shore High School (Class of 2001), Coach Bay continued his baseball career at Angelina College, where he established himself as one of the program’s top performers. He earned All-Region honors in back-to-back seasons, showcasing both consistency and competitive excellence. After his freshman year, Bear was drafted by the Chicago Cubs, but chose to return to Angelina College for another season before officially signing with the Cubs following the next draft. 

 Coach Bay went on to play 11 years of professional baseball, gaining firsthand experience at the highest levels of the game before officially retiring in 2013. His professional journey has shaped his coaching philosophy, emphasizing fundamentals, preparation, mental toughness, and accountability. 

 In addition to his on-field coaching responsibilities, Coach Bay serves as the Head of Operations for the Houston Heat, taking over the role previously held by Phil Cross, who has recently retired and now continues to support the organization as a member of the Board of Directors. In this leadership role, Coach Bay helps guide the vision, structure, and long-term success of the program.
